Invicta Films Goes to FICCI 56

A note from punto-cine.com

Sixteen projects were selected to take part in the 11th International Producers Meeting, an event aimed at emerging Latin American producers with feature-length fiction projects in the development stage. Organized by the Ministry of Culture and Proimágenes Colombia, with the support of the Training Center for Spanish Cooperation – AECID, it will take place during the 56th edition of the Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival –FICCI–, from March 2 to 7. The committee, made up of Marta Baldó Sellent, Luisa María Fernández Armenteros and Héctor Filiberto Rosas Méndez, set out to ensure great diversity of projects in terms of styles, genres, audiences and financing models. They chose projects that make the best use of the Meeting’s focus according to their level of development, without losing sight of the priorities of story, production viability, distribution possibilities and the director’s overall vision. This proposal may constitute a very important phase in the thematic development of Venezuelan cinema, and could also become a true event on the international level. For the 11th edition of the International Producers Meeting, 8 Colombian projects and 8 from other Latin American countries were selected. The chosen projects and their producers are: 1. Lo innegable (Chile), Claudia Mazuela 2. Ferrocarriles (Chile), Felipe Azúa 3. Nordaca (Chile), Marta Loza Alonso 4. El fin de la tierra (Colombia), Angélica Clavijo 5. The meeting is aimed at producers who are beginning their film careers, so that they can take part with a project that is the first or second work of both director and producer. During the Meeting, various international experts will offer guidance to participants on production, financing, marketing and distribution; they will hold pitch sessions before representatives of funds, producers, buyers and national and international agents; and they will take part in round tables to discuss some of the most important points of a production as it moves through the film value chain.
